The navigation design should be consistent with and
adhere to the standard. That is, each page must have a navigation bar
(graphics or text) with links to the "Site Map", the "Search Engine", a link
back to where the user came from (for example, a department home page, table
of contents, etc.) and a link to the main Intranet page.
The first web page of a business or department site must contain the following information:
Primary contact e-mail (mailto) and phone number
Date last revised/updated
Standard link back to the Business home page and the Intranet main page.
Pages beneath the first page in a department site must have a link back to the first page of that site. For example, an Accounting Department Home Page in Business "A" would have a link back to "A" Home Page, the Search Engine, Site Map, and Intranet Home. A Sub-page within this Accounting site would have at a minimum, a link back to the Accounting Department Home Page so as not to strand the user in a virtual never-land.
The "<TITLE></TITLE>" tags of HTML
documents should follow the following format to enhance searching:
Business - Department Name - Content Description
For example -- "Business "A" --Communications - Employee Newsletter"
Do not use "under construction" signs. Web sites are
always under construction. Do not activate links without content.
Web sites should be written following standard HTML
as opposed to proprietary, browser dependent extensions of the language.
A single, global directory will be maintained containing company and product logos. All logos must adhere to company logo standards (which are maintained by the Internal Graphic Design Department). The Webmaster can assist you with logo issues.

Forum Administration Guidelines
The Webmaster centrally manages the Sitescape Forums on the Intranet. All new Summits and Forums are requested through and created by the Webmaster (unless other arrangements are agreed upon). User and Security administration for the Forums is managed centrally except for the Sales and Accounting Department Forums, which are managed by the individual departments due to the high volume nature of their forums.
So, there you have it... An insiders glance at my Intranet's procedures and standards as if you surfed there yourself. Hope they give you some food for thought. I'd love to hear from anyone who has comments or would like to share their own guidelines.
