adAlive, Inc., a company that recently introduced a network of Internet access-points for PDAs, has announced that their access-points have become immediately available at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York through billboards at the American Airlines terminal. adAlive uses the PDAs existing
infrared ports, so no new hardware is required.
With these free access points, users can download city guides and travel-related information, send and receive email with any POP3 account, sync Palm applications, such as the AvantGo mobile Internet service and
Vindigo, backup and refresh calendar and address book data among other types of personal information. And most important of all to the vendor whose billboard these access points are attached to, adLive allows the user interact with the billboard advertiser to request additional
information and receive special offers.
adAlive recently tested the system at the Pittsburgh International Airport and
plans to expand to other airports and additional areas at JFK later this year, as well as other public areas, such as hotels, retail stores, etc...
