At both the Internet World Wireless trade show in New York and GSM World Congress in Cannes France, Onset Technology announced today the availability of its new METAmessage for Wireless offerings. METAmessage for Wireless allows users to read and print email attachments and receive faxes wirelessly.

METAmessage offerings include an ASP called METAmessage.com, METAmessage Server -- Enterprise Edition and META message Conversion Server for ASPs, ISPs and telephone companies. Supported devices include Research In Motions Blackberry™ handheld wireless device.

The METAmessage.com ASP Subscription Service is aimed at individuals, small businesses and workgroups. No software is required, as all you need to do is sign up at the METAmessage.com Web site. Three levels service are offered, the first lets users view attachments as email text, the second lets users read and print (on a local fax machine) attachments and the third lets users read, print and receive faxes with a personal fax number given to them by METAmessage.com.

METAmessage Conversion Server -- Enterprise Edition features an open architecture and is scalable. It can be used behind a firewall in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 networks, and it automatically creates and updates user lists by ready LDAP-compatible corporate directories with Microsoft's Active Directory. Enterprises can implement the print service using an in-house fax server, a fax board or Onset' encrypted ASP service. It supports Lotus Notes, Microsoft Exchange, Novell GroupWise and dynamic load balancing and has the ability to upgrade while the system is running.

METAmessage Conversion Server lets telephone companies, ASPs or ISPs offer a METAmessage solution to their customers. It supports 57 languages, including all Western-European character sets. Its open architecture allows developers to build and customize links to their systems while maintaining the server's data integrity and protecting its processes from third-party components.

"Onset Technology's METAmessage Conversion Server offers a truly comprehensive and scalable messaging solution," said David D. Vande Velde, Technical Lead for Raytheon's Aircraft Integration Systems. "It lets our wireless email users read all the most common attachment types and it converts the attachments as quickly and accurately as possible. In our evaluation process it was critical that the conversion software reside inside our network. We selected METAmessage as the best product for our current and future needs."

The METAmessage for Wireless offerings are available through Onset's network of value-added resellers. METAmessage.com is also available directly to end-users at http://www.metamessage.com. Pricing for the METAmessage.com ASP subscription service ranges from $8 - $15 per month depending on the service level. The METAmessage -- Enterprise Edition software has a base price of $3,000 for a 20-user license and $500 for each additional 10-user license.
