Part Two: The Glorious New

Dreamweaver 4 contains some great new time savers. This section is for those of you who want to get up to speed on the big improvements.

Toolbar

The Toolbar is a such a fine idea, we wish Macromedia had implemented it several version ago

.

It give a home to things that were curiously difficult before. For instance, it's now easy to give a page a title. It's also easy two switch between the Design View, the Code View (which can now appear in the document window), and a hybrid of the two. You can check-in pages from the Toolbar or select browser preview.

The Layout View

The Layout View is an exiting new option for page design. It makes Dreamweaver a superb tool for anyone who wants pixel-perfect table placement without counting pixels.

Click on the bottom right of the Objects Palette to go into Layout View. Two buttons above will become active. One lets you place a cell wherever you wish, the other lets you create a table. Working in Layout View frees the user to place tables and cells anywhere on the page and not have to worry about coding, and so can lead to intriguing page designs.
