We asked Adobe GoLive's product development team for some hidden tips that could make life easier for intranet developers using GoLive 6.0. Here's what they told us. The tips are theirs; the text around them is ours.
1. Apply external CSS to multiple pages
You know that using external cascading style sheets is a timesaver, especially when used across an entire intranet site. But did you know that you can apply your CSS to multiple pages in a jiffy with GoLive 6? It's a boon to anyone just getting into CSS work, who needs to convert preexisting pages, or to designers overhauling an older section of an intranet.
How to do it:
1. Start by creating an external CSS file in your GoLive web site.
2. Open the file tab of the site window, and select all the files for which the CSS will apply.
3. Go to the Window menu and open the CSS palette.
4. Use the point and shoot tool in the CSS palette to select the CSS files you want to use, then press the Add button. And you're done.
2. Find and fix common page title errors
If you let the members of your company's various departments upload their own pages to your intranet, chances are those pages are filled with small errors-including missing title pages. Here's how to find pages with missing pages quickly, then fix them without having to open the pages up. This is a good check to perform periodically, even if no one else uploads pages but your staff. You might be surprised at what slipped through.
How to do it:
1. Open up the Site window, then select Site/Site Report...
2. Click the Errors tab and check the option to display "Pages with inaccurate titles."
3. Next, click the Search button. GoLive will open a new Report Results window listing all the pages that have bad titles.
4. Fixing those missing titles is simple. Select any file in the Report Results window and change the page title in the Page section of the File Inspector.
