Briefs: ISYS Lauded, Open Text Humming Along
ISYS Search Software may fly under the radar for many Intranet builders and users -- especially those not in the government sector -- but the company continues to grow in recognition and revenue.
ISYS has been around since 1988 -- longevity that is rare in the software world. It's a global supplier of enterprise search solutions for business and government. ISYS has been deployed by thousands of organizations in a variety of industries, including government, legal, law enforcement, financial services, healthcare, and recruitment.
Its heavyweight client list includes the U.S.
Earlier this month, Software Magazine included ISYS on the magazine's Software 500 list. The list is a revenue-based ranking of the world's largest software and services suppliers targeting medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers, and business managers involved in software and services purchasing.
Named to the list for the seventh consecutive year, ISYS was ranked 432.
2007 looks like it will be another good year for the company, which is ending 2006 strong. It recently announced increased adoption of its ISYS:sdk application by original equipment manufacturers. New OEM partners include Astea International, Metafile Information Systems, and Overtone Software
Open Text Beefs Up Compliance Muscle
Open Text is humming a new tune when it comes to enhancing its compliance offerings.
Open Text, (OTEX quote) one of the largest providers of enterprise content management software after significant acquisitions this year, announced that it is beefing up its Internal Controls solution by integrating advanced reporting, dashboard, and analytics capabilities acquired from Hummingbird.
Open Text said the expanded solution will help customers manage their compliance programs for regulations such as the Sarbanes Oxley Act and Basel II Capital Accord, among others.
The integration is among the first Open Text has made following
its Hummingbird acquisition. In addition to its Internal Controls solution, Open Text also said the query and reporting capabilities will be integrated with Open Text's other compliance solutions.
"Open Text is committed to helping our customers not just with specific compliance challenges such as SOX 404, but to help them implement a ... centralized approach to identifying, rating, and mitigating corporate risks," said Bill Forquer, executive vice president of Compliance Solutions Business at Open Text.
The new capabilities will give executives access to data from
multiple systems and organize and analyze the information easily, enabling organizations to detect patterns in financial statement data and help ensure accuracy of financial information. Users can alert management to potential problems and deliver daily, real-time reporting to stakeholders.
Open Text will offer the new capabilities in early 2007. Open Text will also feature a new rich client interface in 2007, enabling access to business content from Microsoft's Outlook, and Office applications, as well as Microsoft's Explorer Web browser.
