Perhaps 2006 will someday be seen as the year of the blog, the wiki, the collaboration software, and the year when corporate intranets exploded in popularity and functionality.

It was also a year of consolidation in the enterprise content management universe, with IBM snapping up FileNet, Oracle absorbing Stellent, and OpenText pouncing on Hummingbird.

and the huge upswing in usage, the editors at Intranet Journal decided it was time to honor some of the best products of the year. So welcome to the Intranet Journal 2007 Product of the Year awards. It's the first time Intranet Journal has given out the awards.

The awards are a three-part process. We start with you picking your favorite candidates in six product categories. Click here for the product nomination form, plus more information on the Intranet Journal 2007 Product of the Year awards.

Nominations will be accepted December 5, 2006 thru January 5, 2007.

After the editors and I sort through the candidates and whittle them down, a list of finalists will be posted on January 16, 2007. Voting will be open until midnight (EST) on January 31, 2007. Winners will be announced on February 12, 2007.

To be eligible, products must have been introduced or significantly updated between January 1 and November 15, 2006. The product categories are:

  • Best Intranet Design Software
  • Best Hosted Intranet Solution
