shelled out some big bucks during the year to grab a bigger piece of the growing pie. Oracle ponied up $440 million to buy Stellent, while earlier in the year Big Blue snapped up FileNet for $1.6 billion.

Two of the top software suites for corporate intranets and intranet-related tasks are Microsoft SharePoint and Lotus Notes. We cover both platforms extensively at Intranet Journal, and they also made headlines in 2006.
