Jive Launches Tools, Strategy for Social Business Software
Jive SBS 3.0 is a suite of social business applications that is built for Global 2000 companies. It allows teams of people from inside and outside of the enterprise to connect, communicate, and collaborate like never before, reducing the cost, time and risk required to produce business results.
At the same time, the Portland, Ore.-based company revealed details this week of a multi-million dollar investment in a new strategy designed to extend its leadership in the growing social business software market.
"The bad economy is driving executives to invest in new ways get business done," said Dave Hersh, CEO of Jive. "Social business software is the first new application category to appear in over a decade that delivers a real breakthrough in cost, productivity, and competitive advantage. Jive is the first SBS company with a complete strategy for meeting the needs of Global 2000 companies and governments."
The new suite and strategy are nothing new for the small, 9-year-old company. I first interviewed them back in 2006, when they were on the cutting edge of open source instant messaging for businesses (see Intranet Journal Q&A with Jive Software.)
You may have never heard of Jive, but the company is a market leader in social business software. In 2008, Jive saw 70 percent revenue growth and the addition of more than 200 customers. Jive was also recently named a Leader in "The Forrester Wave: Community Platforms, Q1 2009" (January 2009) and placed in the visionaries quadrant of the October 2008 Enterprise Social Software Magic Quadrant report published by Gartner.
The new suite, Jive SBS 3.0, addresses the most strategic areas in the enterprise with the introduction of four application centers: Employee Engagement, Marketing and Sales, Customer Support and Innovation. Jive SBS 3.0 is also the first to bridge internal employee collaboration with external partner and customer communities into a single application suite, an innovation that has transformational potential for the way that companies work with their customers.
"Jive SBS 3.0 is the first application suite that brings the power of social computing to global businesses in a way that will produce breakthrough returns," Hersh said.
