The definitions I have heard have been varied as well, but for the most part: Intranet - the deployment of INTERNET technology behind a firewall, for use internally by a company's employees. Extranet - an expanded Intranet, whereby employees, partners and customers (sometimes) can use the information (outsiders need passwords, etc.) as well. In an extranet, you can often send your orders to vendors, they can verify them right away; partners can view plans for the new widget you're building and make changes directly to your plans, if necessary. Stuff like that. Any other definitions?
