Can anyone tell me exactly which component (browser, client computer or JavaScript itself) is actually causing this error when using JavaScript to show the current year?

About half the users in this office have no problem on their PCs, whatever browser they use - including Netscape 3. Other colleagues using different (and not necessarily older) PCs show the year as '100' even in Netscape 4.5 or IE5.

The local date settings are correct on their PCs (the original spark to this thread). So, is it the browser, the PC or JavaScript that is at fault?

Someone mentioned JavaScript accessing the computer's BIOS for the year info. Is that anything to do with it? I'd just like to be able to tell people why it's happening - I've dodged the problem by using VBScript on a server side ASP page for the year (still taking time/day/month from the client) but surely there are implications for other applications if the year is stored incorrectly somewhere on the PC even though it seems to be displayed correctly in the local settings.

Tks folks,

-Dan-
