My friend has a medium size company and they asked me to make a plan for an Intranet for them. The details are as follow: There is a Head Office in Sydney that includes: Managing Director and 4 departments which are: Finance with 7 computers, IT with 6 computers, Sales with 11 computers and Human Resources with 3 computers. They have also branches in: Sydney with 8 PC's and a printer, Melbourne with 6 PC's and a printer, Brisbane with 4 PC's and a printer, Perth with 3 PC's and a printer and a Warehouse in Sydney with 2 PC's and a printer. The bulk of the computer power is in Sydney, servicing head office and the Sydney branch which is in the same building. Every member of staff in Sydney Head Office has a PC on their desk which is connected by an Ethernet 10Mbps network. There are 2 servers: a Unix box that runs the accounting system and an NT server that provides support for the office administration products. As the Unix system is now several years old the PCs access it by acting as dumb terminals. The LAN makes use of the IPX protocol for communication between the server and the PCs. The Sydney Warehouse has 2 dumb terminals to handle stock in and out and has a communications line back to the Unix system. The Unix system has the accounting system and inventory control system and users make use of their PCs to run as terminals to access the system. The company gets busy at times so we would like to make sure that all the communication and orders are processed smoothly therefore we want to connect the whole company properly. We need a network diagram for the whole company: head office and branch offices. Please give us an example of an IP address scheme including subnet that we would use for the whole network. We were going to connect all our departments in the Head Office the Sydney branch and the Warehouse using Bridges because they are at the same location and use Router to connect to interstate branches. We think that a Class B network address would be appropriate for our company and we need advice about subneting. The network diagram you can send to my e-mail at: west_koz@email.com Regards Marisa.
